Description:

The first issue of Book III goes where no other Robotech comic has gone before, a "Mature Readers" issue. Although the mature readers label was used, it was very tame in nature as only very slight nudity, sexual content and violence shown. The issue was otherwise, page-for-page, the same story.
The "book" marked the end of the line for one publisher, Eternity Comics, once they passed up renewal of the Robotech comic license. It also marked the beginning of a long run of comics from Academy Comics who was formerly known as Acid Rain Studios but changed the name once they became a mostly Robotech oriented comic publisher.
Book III's tone started to become more serious and dark as each issue went along. The continued battles against the Invid began to take the lives of some characters as Edwards took his power-hungry ways to the next level while he was becoming involved in a love triangle of sorts with Minmei and Johnathan Wolff.

Description:
"Robotech's Alternate Generation" was how this storyline was billed and that is an accurate description. The "Clone" series was actually a spin-off of Invid War Aftermath (see above) and told the tale of a group of scientific pioneers led by a scientist who worked around and in the SDF-1 before the days of the first Robotech War which was nearly 50 years earlier but he still hasn't aged due to a new process he has created to people nearly immortal. He has also created his own SDF known as Mordecai which he takes into space on a mission to seed the universe with human life. A follow-up one-shot issue entitled "Mordecai" was introduced almost a year later. Even though this series was not your normal Robotech fare, it was definitely a refreshing and interesting twist on the Robotech universe.

  Description:

Book II introduced us to the characters that this series was named for, "The Sentinels". The Sentinels are a band of alien races from the many worlds of the Fantoma star system that is being oppressed by The Invid. Once the Sentinels and R.E.F. cross paths Rick joins their cause to rid the system of the Invid by liberating each of the Sentinels' homeworlds one by one.
While these events take place, Edwards gets his plans of taking over the R.E.F. off the ground while being involved in a relationship with none other than Lynn Minmei.

Robotech II: The Sentinels was the longest running comic saga in Robotech history spanning almost 10 years worth of issues. "Book I" began the odyssey with this 16 issue series.
